Shaman

Shamans master elemental and nature magics and bring the most potential buffs to any group in the form of totems. A shaman can summon one totem of each element - earth, fire, air, and water - which appears at the shaman's feet and provides a buff to anyone in the shaman's party or raid within range of it. Some shaman totems, notably the fire ones, also do damage to opponents. The trick to playing any type of shaman is knowing which totems to cast under which circumstances to maximize the group's damage output and survivability.

Shamans are primarily spellcasters, although an Enhancement shaman likes to get close and personal and do damage within melee range. An enhancement shaman learns to Dual Wield weapons and can use Feral Spirit to summon a pair of Spirit Wolves to aid in battle. Despite being primarily melee, Enhancement shamans can still gain some benefit from spellpower and can cast instant Lightning Bolt or heals with Maelstrom Weapon.

Elemental shamans stand back and cast fire and lightning spells to deal great amounts of damage. They can push back enemies with Thunderstorm and root all enemies in an area with Storm, Earth and Fire. They also bring Totem of Wrath and Elemental Oath as amazing spellcaster raid buffs. A shaman that choses Restoration gains improved healing spells and can be a great raid or tank healer. Resto shamans are known for their powerful Chain Heal ability and for providing a Mana Tide Totem to help their party's mana restoration. They also gain a powerful Earth Shield, can use Cleanse Spirit to remove curses, and have an instant-cast direct heal plus heal over time effect called Riptide.
  • There are over twenty different totems a shaman can learn!
  • Shamans can cast Bloodlust (or Heroism) to boost the entire group's damage and healing. This buff is unique and oft sought after for a raid group.
  • A shaman can turn into a Ghost Wolf at level 16 and can even make it instant cast with Improved Ghost Wolf. This spell can be used in combat, but not indoors.
  • Shamans can only have one elemental shield - Lightning Shield or Water Shield - on at a time. Earth Shield, if the shaman knows it, can be cast on another player.
